Wild Blueberries

We’ve been growing Wild Blueberries since 1974

Wild Blueberries

We grow wild blueberries along the North Shore of Nova Scotia. While we’re mainly in the Tatamagouche area we have fields towards Amherst as well.

August, a special time of year

Everything is mechanized now although growing up, August was a month of constant motion in the house. There was a two-week window to get the blueberries harvested so it was all hands on deck.

Growing Cycle

Unlike many agricultural crop, wild blueberries are harvested every second year. The in-between year, known as the sprout year, is the opportunity for the blueberry plant to revive itself and produce fruit buds for the next seaon.

What we harvest

Given the two-year crop cycle for blueberries, we have our fields split between Sprout and Crop fields on any given year.

We harvest roughly 120 acres of blueberries per year.

Looking to the Future

We aren’t in a rush (you can’t be in the forestry and wild blueberry businesses) although we are always happy to entertain opportunities to grow our holdings. If you’d like to look beyond the wild blueberry business please use the Contact Us link to let us know about a field you have for sale.
